Do Japanese say 'You made my day!' ?
Can I say 'You made my day!' to my Japanese friend? She didn't seem to understand it. So, I just said 'Thank you!'.
English expression 'You made my day' is not common for Japanese people.
However, if you want to say it in Japanese, you can say
おかげで今日一日幸せです!(おかげできょういちにちしあわせです!)
Okagede Kyou Ichinichi Shiawase desu!
This is a lovely Japanese expression that I highly recommend you use! It actually means 「You made me happy today!」
As you know, Japanese don't say 'I(わたし)or 'You(あなた)’ in their casual conversation because it is obvious who's speaking.
